Film is an important, even vital, cultural and educational art form. As such, film can help us understand ourselves and our world. At its best, film can raise the perennial questions of human existence, aid in preserving our cultural inheritance, introduce the rich treasures of other cultures, and challenge us to think for ourselves.
In showing films that have artistic merit and intellectual value, we seek to further Lindenwood University’s commitment to values-centered programs leading to the development of the whole person–an educated, responsible citizen of a global community. The Lindenwood Film Series is a way of fulfilling this commitment for our campus and for the community at large.
The Blackening (Oct. 26)
Seven friends go away for the Juneteenth weekend and end up trapped in a cabin by a killer with vendetta. Will their street smarts and knowledge of horror movies help them stay alive? Probably not.
Joy Ride (Nov. 2)
Four unlikely friends embark on a journey to China in search of one of their birth mothers. The simple trip turns into an epic adventure of bonding, friendship, belonging, and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.
Barbie (Nov. 9)
Barbie suffers a crisis that leads her to question her world and her existence. Driven by new-found angst, Barbie, with Ken in-tow, sets off from her Dream House on a journey into the real world that will reshape the Barbies’ entire world.
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One (Nov. 16)
Ethan Hunt and his IMF team must track down a dangerous weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future, the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan's past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins.
Oppenheimer (Nov. 30)
From Christopher Nolan, the story of American scientist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and his role in the Manhattan Project and the development of the atomic bomb. His eventual success would change the course of history.
